Pakistan wins over South Africa, tops table

Pakistan started their super eights campaign of the T20 world cup with a victory over South Africa. According to the high scoring standards so far in this tournament this match did not see such big hitting and neither were too many runs scored. After winning the toss South Africa elected to bat first in what seemed to be a pitch that would slow down as the game progressed. Both the openers were sent back to the pavilion within the first 6 overs and the Proteas were facing a crisis situation when Duminy held the innings together for South Africa. He scored 48 runs of 38 balls and he along with AB de Villiers helped South Africa to reach a total of 133 for the loss of 6 wickets. Yasir Arafat and Mohammad Hafeez picked up 2 wickets each for Pakistan and were quite economical with their bowling.

Pakistan started their innings with a disastrous start as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. At one stage they were 7 down for just 76 and most people thought that it was just a formality for South Africa to end the game. But the Pakistan batsmen had other ideas and Umar Akmal along with Umar Gul lead Pakistan to what seemed to be an unexpected victory for them. They got the winning runs with just 2 balls to spare and as a result move to the top of the super eights group.
