Runs rain as Kings XI Punjab chase down Pune Warriors India mammoth 185 in ipl 6

The Sunday night T-20 contest of the sixth edition of Indian Premier League, which was between Kings XI Punjab and Pune Warriors India, proved to be yet another edge-of-the-seat match for the cricket admirers. Prior to the match both the teams were considered to be minnows, though capable of upsets, but never really in contention of the ipl 6 trophy. However, after the match this conception is bound to be changed. Both the teams batted their heart out and the match was undecided until the very end.

Pune Warriors India was to bat first in this match and their batting line-up fired unanimously to post a formidable total of 185 runs in the first innings. Though the pitch was aiding batsmen, a target of 186 runs is difficult in any conditions and the Kings XI Punjab needed to ensure that they got off to a flier of a start. The explosive captain of Kings XI Punjab, Adam Gilchrist, has seemed past his shine as evident from the ipl highlights of their matches in this season. If Kings XI Punjab were to build a platform for a successful chase, then Gilchrist was expected to provide the foundation for this platform.

However, Gilchrist failed to impress once again and the onus of the chase rested on the less exposed batting line-up of Kings XI Punjab. At the end of this ipl 2013 match, the KXIP did manage to outrun PWI, courtesy to the explosive batting partnership of David Miller and Mandeep Singh.
