Gayle inning helps RCB to top points table

Chris Gayle set a new record in T20 cricket by scoring the fastest century of 30 balls getting past Yusuf Pathan’s 37 ball century, highest score of 175 not out in 66 balls getting past Brendon McCullum’s 158 not out with 17 huge sixes as RCB set the highest run target in T20 of 263 runs. Pune could barely do anything to chase the total down as they ended their innings for just 133 for 9 thereby losing the match by 130 runs. RCB now tops the points table with a decent run rate of +1.25 thanks to their huge margin win. Their winning streak at the fortress called Chinnaswamy continued as Pune was thrashed and pushed against the wall.

Pune had lost the battle even before they started their chase which was quite demoralizing for them thanks to the monster named Chris Gayle. Not one bowler feels comfortable bowling to him as he is synonymous with destruction. Pune’s morale has taken a toll after some good batting efforts in the last game where they could have won. This match was completely a one sided affair because the match was more of Gayle vs Pune Warriors. As of now, RCB are most likely to make it to the playoffs whereas Pune needs to win almost all their remaining matches to ensure a berth in the playoffs. It will be a tough time for them to regroup and strategize against almost all the teams with such fierce competition.
