Mumbai Indians thrashed KKR by 5 wickets

Mumbai Indians thrashed KKR for a 5 wicket victory at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday. After a bit of delay due to rain KKR put down a decent effort with the bat to set a target of 160 for the visitors. Mumbai Indian had their regular skipper Ponting dropping himself out of the side as Rohit Sharma took charge. The master blaster’s birthday knock wasn’t a special one as he fell into a beautiful delivery by Sunil Narine to uproot the middle stump. However, Smith and Rohit Sharma took on to put up a decent partnership later joined by Pollard.

A little more serious effort on the field and a bit more discipline with the ball could have seen KKR through but with the likes of Pollard and Smith batting to see the balls out of the park made life difficult for the KKR bowlers. Running between the wickets also played a crucial part as KKR fielders fumbled quite a bit to pick up the ball and throw it back to the yard. This was a much needed win for Mumbai especially after the onslaught by bottomers Delhi Daredevils; MI can now be content with the win but KKR must pull up their socks now. It was not a day where Gambhir could blame his batsmen or his bowlers; it was just an overall extra effort that was needed which Gambhir should focus on before it gets too late for the “reigning” champions.
