Dropped Catches Cost 2 Points To The Kings XI As KKR Sail Through

The Kolkata Knight Riders finally got their much awaited victory at the Eden Gardens on Friday. Punjab winning the toss and coming down to bat first maintained a healthy run rate till the 16th over before Kallis-Narine action brought their run rate down;  but thanks to Balaji’s expensive 18 run 20th over that helped them somewhat to set a target of 150 runs.

However, coming down to bat KKR faltered by losing two quick wickets in the first 2 overs and 10 runs in the form of their in-form captain Gambhir followed by Yusuf Pathan who barely made his presence felt in this season so far. It was the man of the match of the finals of IPL 2012 Bisla who took charge with Kallis to get the run rate going but just as Kallis departed with a good knock of 37 in came the innovative destructor of the KKR camp named Eoin Morgan who has all the shots under his belt out of the cricketing book. He sent a few out of the boundary ropes before he fell for a brilliant 42 with KKR only requiring 2 runs to win out of 2 overs.

Bisla’s half century was a much appreciated one as he saw his team through in the last year’s final as well as in this match. Punjab will now have to move on to Mumbai and Chennai to face even bigger challenges where Gambhir and his men can breathe a sigh of relief.
