KKR Falls Short To Chase CSK Massive 200

CSK gave KKR a taste of their own medicine a year after their title win at the same ground. CSK outplayed KKR in both their encounters in this season to finally avenge their defeat last year. After winning a crucial toss surprisingly Gambhir put CSK to bat first which backfired thanks to some tremendous batting by Mike Hussey who went on to score 95 along with Saha to put up a 100 run partnership followed by Dhoni and Raina. CSK laid down a target of 201 for KKR. Coming down to bat it was Bisla again the hero of IPL 2012 finals who gave CSK a run for their money with his blistering 92 but KKR fell short by 14 runs what was a much appreciated chase by the Kolkata franchise.

However, KKR now have to win most of their remaining matches to be at par with the minimum cut off of 18 points to qualify for the playoffs but CSK seem to be the clear favorites to finish in the top four already. KKR still failed to get their combination right in terms of bowling attack; they did miss Senanayake today who had to sit out due to the political agitation that prevents a Lankan player to play at Tamil Nadu. However, Brett Lee’s exclusion still remains a mystery as he can surely do better than Balaji to lead the bowling attack for KKR. Probably the King himself needs to make his presence felt now.
