Rain washes out crucial Group A ties in 2013 CLT20

Like its previous editions, the 2013 Champions League is proving to be a healthy contest with every team battling tooth and nail with their opponent in order to be crowned as the Champion of Champions. However, some of this fierce competition was doused by rain. Matches scheduled on at Motera stadium of Ahmadabad did not materialise because of incessant rainfall. Both the matches were of Group A and this has tightened the belt of competition for teams involved in Group A.

Except for Rajasthan Royals, who secured 4 points with a win over Mumbai Indians in opening contest of the group stages of Champions League 2013, each of the four remaining teams in Group A alongside Rajasthan Royals have now secured 2 points for being involved in the 2 rain withdrawn matches. While this has put Rajasthan Royals in a little advantage position, Mumbai Indians are lagging slightly behind since they have already lost one match in the group stage. On the other hand, the remaining three teams, Highveld Lions, Otago Volts and Perth Scorchers, share two points each and have equal number of matches in front of them in the group stages.

Mumbai Indians, the defending champions in the league, now need to win almost each of their contests to remain in the reckoning for the knock out stages. Ironically, the team marred by spot fixing scandal in recent times, Rajasthan Royals, has until now held their head high above competition under the captaincy of majestic batting legend, Rahul Dravid.
