As the super eights are closing up the points table has had a big turnaround in the last couple of days. With South Africa beating Sri Lanka earlier and Pakistan beating New Zealand things have all become pretty balanced. Most recently India had beaten England in a one sided match which took them to the top of the table in Group A with 4 points and a good run rate. England had beaten Afghanistan which gave them 2 points and they move to the super eights along with India who has 4 points. In Group B Australia and West Indies have qualified for the next round although West Indies did not even win a game in the group stage because their match against Ireland was abandoned due to rain. The run rate against Australia gave them a slight benefit over the Irish team although Ireland might think it was pretty harsh on them.

The home team Sri Lanka goes to the super eights as the runners up from Group C as the Proteas have won both their group matches and are on top of the table. South Africa also have a superior run rate than Sri Lanka and the home team will really have to pull their socks up in order to fight back. Group D is yet to find the 2 teams who will go on to the super eights as their last match has not been played. New Zealand and Pakistan are both tied with 2 points each and the topper will be decided after the match between Bangladesh and Pakistan is played. Here is a summarized look of the points table:
