Update At the end of 2nd day of World Twenty20 2012

With just three games played and into the third day of the T20 World Cup the points table looks as they should have when the pre match predictions were made. Six teams have already played their first respective group match namely A, B and C. Sri Lanka started off the tournament with a huge win over Zimbabwe, winning by 82 runs and that has earned them 2 valuable points with a healthy run rate as well. The superb bowling, which is also a world record now by Ajantha Mendis helped the Sri Lankan’s to get an easy victory over Zimbabwe. Coming to Group B Australia looked ruthless both with the bat and with the ball and were successful in restricting Ireland to comparatively low total of 123. It took just 16 over and three wickets for the Aussies to surpass that score and as a result of that they are now the Group toppers with two points in their bag.
India too started their T20 world cup campaign with a victory over Afghanistan. There were mixed performances from both the teams though it was an easy victory for India in the end. India would be facing England in their next match and that would be crucial to decide who will be on the top of Group A. As it stands for now India is one top with two points after beating Afghanistan.
