ICC announces 3 CSRs for Champions Trophy 2013

The ICC Champions Trophy is to take place this year in England and Wales during the end of the first half of this year. After the ICC Cricket World Cup, the Champions Trophy is the most anticipated cricketing congregation of all the top cricket playing nations arranged by the ICC. Hence, it is also one of those events which ensure maximum visibility for any cause which happens to be associated with the event. It is for this reason that as the ICC Champions Trophy for 2013 nears its beginning; the ICC has closed in on three Corporate Social Responsibility partnerships for the event.

ICC would be partnering with UNAIDS and UNICEF along with Room to Read during the Champions Trophy. As evident from the partnership, the three CSRs are aimed in spreading global AIDS awareness. The three CSRs would be working on lines of the global cricket AIDS awareness partnership ThinkWise. The above mentioned partnerships for ICC Champions Trophy in England and Wales would be joined by the efforts from ‘Chance to Shine’ initiative from ICC. The ‘Chance to Shine’ programme has been undertaken by ICC in order to promote inclusion of cricket back in the state schools across England and Wales.

The association of the ICC with UNAIDS during the imminent Champions Trophy marks a decade long partnership of these two entities. The England Cricket Board is to actively participate for the Chance to Shine programme to encourage more and more youngsters to opt for cricket as their professional sporting choice.
