Australia registers 200-runs victory over Scotland

The summer of 2013 has not been kind for Australia. After getting ousted from final edition of the ICC Champions Trophy despite being defending champions, Australia was facing the prospect of first of the back to back Ashes series of 2013. The 5 match test series hardly hand handful number of moments of cheers for the Australian side as England won the coveted urn, said to be holding the ‘Ashes’ of England cricket, by a comprehensive margin of 3-0. This margin could have been worse for the visiting Baggy Greens had weather conditions not come to their rescue.

Following the test series, the two teams got on to the T20 series which went tied as both the teams registered one win each in the two match series. Before the One Day International series, Australia went on to face Scotland. It was expected that Australia would win this encounter. However, the emphatic manner in which Australian team did that had raised the hopes of the Australian supporters before the ODI series. Scotland won the toss and decided to field.

The decision could not have proved any wrong as both the openers of the Australian side went on for a carnage of the Scottish bowling attack. The star of the first T20 match, Finch made 148 runs in 116 deliveries while Marsh added 151 runs in 149 deliveries to take total to 362 runs. In return, Scotland could manage only 162 runs as Johnson took 4 wickets to hand over Australia a 200-run win.
