Zimbabwe bowlers shine during 1st Day

After handing over India’s first 5-0 whitewash on foreign soil, it seemed that the Pakistan tour would be no different for the home side of Zimbabwe. However, the Zimbabwe cricketers have shown some grit and recorded some fight against the other sub-continental team, Pakistan, after their regretful series against India. However, T20 series, which Pakistan comprehensively won by 2-0, had the indications that Pakistan would roll over the Zimbabwe resistance in each of their contest.

However, the 3 match One Day International series brought an unexpected fight from the home side. In the first ODI, Zimbabwe managed to win against Pakistan for the first time in a time span of last 15 years. However, this resurgence was short lived as Pakistan cruised through the remaining two matches with 90 and 108 runs victories respectively. Now, the two teams are locking horns in the test series. Zimbabwe had once again brought some grit to the field against their opponent.

After winning the toss on the first day of the first test match, Zimbabwe decided to field first and put Pakistan to bat. The decision seemed to be working in the favour of the home side as Pakistan lost their initial wickets not for much runs. However, half centuries from Azhar Ali and Misbah ul Haq provided some stability to the visitors. This was again followed by a flurry of wickets until Saeed Ajmal’s unbeaten knock of 49 came in to take Pakistan to 249 for 9 wickets at the end of Day 1.
